The Holidays are a time of celebrating the hope of peace. Peace on Earth, goodwill toward All Beings. I used to think that peace came only from outside of myself. From God or the Angels, from not being at war, from some one or some place else. Now I see peace as starting from within myself. As the song goes, “Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.”
There is still much to be done externally to encourage peace in on our beautiful green and blue planet. Some of our favorites ways to support peace are:
- Installing peace poles as way to ground the frequency of peace into the Earth
- Supporting the creation of a cabinet level Department of Peace
- Supporting the Nonviolent Peaceforce as they go into war torn and troubled areas to be neutral witnesses and help break the cycles of violence.
Peace: Lupine
Lupine flower essence is reeducating my body/mind in the ways of personal peace. I’ve found that if I’m still experiencing fear, anger, resentments, if I’m looking to the “other” person or situation as the cause of violence that I’m unable to authentically work for peace in the world.
There are many varieties of sun-loving lupine plants. Lupines can grow in locations with nutritionally poor soils because they transform (fix) atmospheric nitrogen into the soil for nitrogen usable by plants. Lupines are beautiful naturalized in a field or in a garden and provide valuable food source for butterflies and bees. Over the centuries, lupine leaves, stems and roots have been prepared medicinally for a variety of internal and skin issues. However, because they contain bitter-tasting toxic alkaloids, lupines are not a source of food for humans.
As a flower essence, Lupine works in the energetic pathways that interface with the amygdala, two almond-shaped masses of neurons in the limbic system of the brain. Some parts of the amygdala trigger “reflexive” emotions like fear, anxiety and panic when sensory inputs like smell, sight, sound, touch or physical location trigger emotionally charged memories. This is part of the physiology of post traumatic stress disorder people experience after being in a war, experiencing trauma or abuse, or any situation that is perceived to be life threatening. Other regions of the amygdala produce sensations of benign peacefulness. Lupine Flower Essence brings the energetic pathways that feed fear, anxiety and panic into alignment with the energetic pathways that encourage a sense of peacefulness. It also strengthens the energetic pathways between the emotional heart, olfactory system, and other parts of the limbic system with the peaceful aspects of the amygdala.
As Lupine Flower Essence says of itself:
I AM gentle mental ease and heart-centered personal peace.
In this season of peace, Lupine flower essence is assisting me in the process of fully embodying personal peace so I can BE Peace in the world.
