What a trip!! Twenty years ago this April I started making flower essences at Tree Frog Farm. It was a brand-new experience and a learning curve. I had been using flower essences made by Perelandra and Green Hope Farm before John and I moved from Colorado to Tree Frog Farm on Lummi Island. Once here I was gently nudged into making flower essences. I started by reading The book Flower Essences by Machaelle Small Wright of Perelandra then trained with the faeries here and with my Spirit Guides. The faeries sent me on “wild goose chases” to see if I could hear them and follow instructions. My Spirit Guides patiently guided the process.
The first year, I didn’t know how to properly store the mother bottles. All of the 18 new essences got a film on the shiso base and had to be dumped into the compost. Heartbreaking! What a lesson. We built an area specifically for storing the essences and operating our fledgling business. We also drilled a well and installed a reverse osmosis filter system to ensure that our water is pure and safe for the essences and you, our customers.
I started by using the pick method of floating flowers in water in a bowl. Four years later I changed to the no-pick method. Crystals were added over the years, both in making the flower essences and in charging the essence blends.
Twenty years later we have 136 individual essences and 5 lines of flower essence blended products.
This time I’m offering S.O.S. and Pennyroyal Flower Essence as an example of the early products my Spirit Team and I made. Brain Essence Blend and Lavender Flower Essence came mid-way. And, The Crown Chakra Blend and Epipactis Orchid Essence are very recent. Pennyroyal and Lavender essences have been remade to be upgraded several times since they were originally produced.
